AMI Lodge Update from Byron

Good afternoon,
Moose members and Friends.
We have an election coming up on April 9, 2024, for the Lodge Officers. We will be accepting requests to be put on the ballot for the following offices: President, Vice president, Chaplain, Treasurer, 1st, and 2nd year Trustees. The blank request form, to be considered for a position on the election ballot, is available in the Lodge office and the Membership office. Requests to be put on the ballot will be taken through March 14, 2024, until the close of business hours of the Membership Office, 7PM. If you have any questions about the election, please feel free to ask our administrator or check out The General Laws sec 33.
It appears to be that time of the year when we (the Lodge) have to remind our members about a few things at the Lodge.
1) DO NOT give your membership card to anyone, including your spouse, to get into the lodge. If you are on the beach and he or she needs to come in to use the facilities, come in with him/her.
2) If you have guests DO NOT give your card to them to utilize the lodge. They CANNOT purchase anything; they are not members of the Moose!! They have no business in the lodge alone unless it is to fill out an application for membership.
3) The gentlemen that we have working in the parking lot are not there to take your abuse just because you don’t like being told to follow the rules for the parking lot. They are there to control parking and traffic through the lot. This includes making sure that people in the lot are patronizing the Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge not another business up the street. If you are “caught” leaving your car in the lot and going some place else, your vehicle WILL BE TOWED.
4) Members’ guests are not entitled to park in the parking lot, unless the member is riding in the vehicle.
The 5th Annual Pig Roast is coming up very quickly...5 DAYS!!!! We do have a few tickets still available to come and enjoy some great food by Jimmy’s “PIG OUT” restaurant and two great bands. There are going to be a few vendors including the Chamber of Commerce. You have heard me mention Luca Racing. Luca is a young man that has taken on youth racing. Your lodge has been sponsoring him and he is doing very well. He will be here for the pig roast and is bringing at least one of his race cars. Please don’t forget your beach chairs and sunscreen!
The Easter Bunny’s visit is just around the corner on March 23rd. The Lodge will have a sign-up sheet by the front office. Please know that the list will not be available until the Monday after the Pig Roast. This is so the lodge knows how many children will be joining us. We ask that the children only bring two adults with them, this allows more room for more children. There will be goodies for breakfast, handouts, games and pictures with the Easter Bunny and our famous Easter Egg Hunt!!
Just a quick reminder, we have an Orientation every 4th Thursday of the month at 6PM. We have had to cancel a few for unexpected reasons. But I will be here this Thursday, on the February 22nd. I am looking forward to seeing you here with your questions and ideas to help make your lodge even better than it already is!

Lodge Weekend Schedule
Hello AMI Moose members,
The Lodge has a few changes to operational and kitchen hours for the weekend ahead.
Tonight, Friday, the traditional Friday Night Dinner starts at 4:30pm and ends at 7:30pm. Please bring your Moose card and your patience to the Lodge during this time, as it is a popular meal.
On Saturday the kitchen will be serving a limited menu from Noon until 3pm. It will then close for 90 minutes for dinner prep. The Lodge’s Valentine’s Dinner begins at 4:30pm until the filet mignon and grouper run out. No tickets are needed and no reservations can be made. Steve Rosenbeck will be playing music starting at 7pm on the beach patio.
On Sunday the Lodge will open at Noon, due to the Moose District meeting happening earlier in the Lodge. We will not be hosting a Super Bowl party, though the game will be playing on the televisions.

AMI Lodge Member Orientation Date Change
Hello Moose members.
Our normal orientations take place on the 4th Thursday of every month at 6PM.
We are going to change our orientation night this month. The reason for this short notice is we have an opportunity to have two wonderful members of the Moose Fraternity that will be visiting our great lodge, on January 15th and 16th.
Our guests will be Harry Johnston and his wife Sandy Johnston. Harry is a Past Supreme Governor of the order (the highest elected office of the Moose) and is currently serving as the President of the Mooseheart Board of Officers. Sandy has been through all of the chairs for the Women of the Moose. Sandy is the first female elected to the Moose International Board of Directors in the 133-year history of the Moose Fraternity!!
The orientation will be on Tuesday the 16th of January at 6PM.
I often state, “I know the mind can only absorb what the butt can handle”. Our orientation is not comprised of slides and movies. It is our way of sharing with you why your Moose Lodge does what it does, and what we don’t or aren’t allowed to do, because of your lodge being a 501-C-8. We will simply be sharing information and answering questions about The Great Fraternity we belong to.

Pig Roast Update
Pig Roast Update!
Well it has been unofficially announced that the ticket s for the 5th Annual Pig Roast are available.
Soooo, here it is officially.
The Pig Roast tickets are available in the Lodge office and the membership office. The cost for this great dinner and entertainment is $16.95 person. Please know that there is no limit to the amount of guests for this event. But be advised that you, the member, are responsible for your guests!
There will be three seatings, just like last year. 1st seating is 12PM until 2PM, the 2nd seating is 2PM until 4PM and the third seating is 4PM until 6PM. If you do not make your seating time exactly, you will not be denied this great meal.
Please be advised that all sales are final and only cash will be excepted for the Pig Roast.
We are also planning a Valentines’ Day steak dinner. The menu and cost will be announced very shortly through Email. Do not call the lodge, do not ask on Facebook. There will be an email for this announcement.

Queen of Hearts is Starting Again!
Happy New Year to our AMI Moose Lodge members!
Our Queen of Hearts game has started with tickets for sale in the Social Quarters (bar) at $2 per ticket, cash only.
The first drawing of 2024 will take place on Wednesday, January 10th at 7pm.
The starting pot is $10,000.00 and will increase each week we don't have a winner, with a cap of $250,000.00 if the game increases to that point.
The consolation prize for the Queen Envelope will be $200 and three door prizes will also be drawn on at $100 each.
You do not need to be at the Lodge to win the Queen of Hearts, but you do need to be here to win a door prize.
Remember to write your name exactly as it is printed on your Moose Membership card, including middle initials or suffixes. Full rules are posted at the Lodge and available when buying tickets.

AMI Lodge Update From Byron
Hi all,
The AMI Moose Lodge officers wish all of you a happy and fun holiday season!
The Lodge Children’s party was a great success, with the exception of the weather. I would like to thank all of the Members that helped put smiles on our children’s faces. And just as important, thank you to the Moose Members that were able to bring their children and grandchildren to visit with Santa, Rudolph and their helpers.
Just a reminder: the AMI Moose Lodge will not be open on Christmas Eve 12/24 or Christmas Day 12/25.
We will be open on New Years Eve 12/31, nothing special is happening, and on New Years Day 01/01.
Lodge hours on both days will be from 11am to 10PM.
Starting this Friday, December 22nd, our Special Dinner returns with Prime Rib, Baby Back Ribs, Red Snapper and Chicken Breast meals. First orders will be taken at 4:30pm through 7:30pm, unless we run out of food before then. We will be running a “Split the Pot” drawing on Friday nights, starting at 4:30pm and drawing a winner at 6:30pm. You do not need to be in the Lodge to win. We will contact the winner.
Tickets for our Lodge Queen of Hearts drawing will start on Monday, January 1, 2024 at 11am. The first drawing will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 7pm and every Wednesday until the Queen of Hearts is found, baring any unexpected incidents that would close the Lodge on that day.
Please watch for information coming soon about the Pig Roast in February.

Lodge Closing December Reminder

Last Day to Sign up for the Children's Christmas Party Nov 30th
Good Afternoon AMI Moose Members and Guests,
The Children's Christmas Party List will close at 10pm on Thursday November 30th.
Signups MUST be made in person at the Lodge by the Moose Member, not by phone or email.
Santa needs time to check the list before the Children's Christmas Party at the AMI Moose Lodge on Saturday December 16th from 10am to Noon.
Reminder: The Entire AMI Moose Lodge is CLOSED from December 1st - December 12th and will reopen at 11am on December 13th.
Help Needed at the AMI Moose Lodge
CALLING all Moose members and Friends,
The lodge will be in need of your help on December 2, 2023.
On this day at 10:00 am we will be moving all of the tables, chairs, counters, and anything else that is not nailed or screwed to the floor and some things from the walls into two portable trailers.
We are doing this because the final “cover” for the floor will be applied on December 4th and completed by December 10th.
We also ask that you come back on Dec 11th at 10:00 am to unload the trailers.
This will allow us to reopen the lodge on December 13, 2023 (on time).
Your help will be greatly appreciated. There are large and small things that will need to be moved, so we would appreciate all the help we can get.

Children’s Halloween party
Good afternoon, Moose members and Friends.
We hope everyone is doing well.
Just a quick update about the Children’s Halloween party. Be advised that the Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge Children’s Halloween Party IS NOT, I repeat IS NOT, being held at the Sarasota Moose Lodge. The AMI Lodge is planning a Children’s Halloween party to be held at the Bradenton Moose Lodge at 310 44th Ave. Bradenton, FL. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 between the hours of 10AM and 12PM. There will be “goodie bags“, Ghoulish (chicken) fingers and fries, juice boxes, music, and games. There will also be a costume contest! We will have a sign-up sheet at the AMI Moose Lodge for you to sign your children up, so we have an idea of how many children will be in attendance.
The Lodge will have the date for the Christmas party posted very soon, and a sign-up sheet available for you to put your children and their ages on. The ages for Santa to shop for are 12 years old and younger.
Some of you may not be aware of the construction that we are expecting to take place soon to replace the dining room floor. We are not sure when we will be able to start and exactly how long it will take (we are estimating approximately 4 weeks). For those of you that think we waited to do this during “In Season” you are gravely mistaken. We have been working on this for 6 or more weeks to get this accomplished and the construction requires a lot of planning and paperwork.

Queen Of Hearts Results
Results from the queen of hearts drawing drawing august 16th, 2023
Ticket #1286665 was drawn from the tumbler and envelope #35 was selected which contained the Queen of Hearts!
The winner was not present but received a phone call with the great news.
We had fourteen other winners who received $1,000.00 each. Many winners were present, the rest were called.
Split the pot sales were $9,050.00. The winner received $4,525.00 and $4,525.00 will go to moose charities.
The nine o'clock ceremony was conducted and your generous donations of $627.00 were collected. These funds go to the moose charities endowment fund which benefits the children at mooseheart and the seniors at moosehaven.
Thank you for your donations and for your participation in our queen of hearts raffle.
Stay tuned for when the next queen of hearts game will begin.
Queen of Hearts Draw Down Rules
Good afternoon Moose members,
We do hope this email finds you all in good health and spirits.
As the majority of you are aware, when the current Queen of Hearts game was started, the Lodge issued a statement that the pot would be capped at $250.00.00. And we would notify you as early as we could, simply because we can’t predict when the pot would be that high. The current pot is $208,251.00, so we expect the pot will be at $250K within the next few weeks.
If we have a Queen draw down the agenda will be as follows:
• The deck of cards drawings (Moose Legion) will be run.
• The Nine O’clock Ceremony will be performed, and donations collected.
• The Split the Pot drawing will follow, you do not need to be present to win.
• The Draw Down will begin at 7PM, give or take a minute. You do not need to be present to win. One ticket will be drawn at a time. This will be done by our police liaison officer. If the first envelope contains the Queen, then that person will win the current pot, less 25% due to taxes. They will be required to fill out a W-9. If it is not the Queen, that person will receive a $1,000.00 consolation prize and will sign a W-9, before receiving a check for that amount. If a ticket is drawn of an already selected envelope, that ticket is discarded, and no consolation prize will be given. This process will continue until the Queen is found.
The next Queen of Hearts game will be announced at a later date.

We are still waiting for City Permits and a start date for a permanent fix to the Dining room floor. In the mean time, we have made temporary fixes to the floor and the Dining room and Social quarters (Bar) are OPEN.
In addition, the upstairs seating is available and the Bar upstairs is open Wednesday and Friday starting at 4PM weather dependent.

Dining Room Closed Starting Today 6/28/2023
Starting today, Wednesday 6/28, our Lodge dining room will be closed for seating until the floor replacement project is complete. This is necessary for the safety of our Members.
Food will be available and can be eaten in the bar area, the outside patio seating, upstairs or taken To Go. Waitress staff will be available during this time.
The Membership Office will be open with entry available on the north side of the building from the parking area along Gulf Drive.
Project work dates are currently unknown. We will update our Members along the way.

Special Lodge Meeting Tuesday 6-28-2023
Good afternoon Members,
For those of you that have been in the lodge in the last few months, you may have noticed that we have had to “patch” the floor in various places. We had the structure of the floor inspected and “patching “ the floor is not a long-term fix for this problem. We will have to replace a majority of the floor.
We have received a couple of bids from licensed contractors and have decided on one contractor.
There is a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday 6-27-23 at 7:45PM. The purpose of this meeting is to vote on replacing the floor in the dining room.

Special Lodge Meeting Tuesday 5-23-2023
Good afternoon, Members,
Our current bar stools have been with us for a very long time and need to be retired!
Samples of bar stools have been available in the Lodge for the membership to try and
after a month the consensus decided on one style, (which is still in the lodge).
There is a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday 5-23-23 at 7:45PM. The purpose of
this meeting is to discuss and vote on purchasing new bar stools for the social quarters.
After we replace the barstools, the lodge will sell the old ones for a minimum price to our members.
No, we will not ship or transport them!

Good afternoon,
Moose members (and Friends). The reason “the Friends” is in parentheses is because this email is strictly for the members, but we didn’t want to leave you out of the loop!!
We have been dealing with a lot of spouses coming in with their spouse’s card expecting to get in and try to order drinks or trying to save a table or two while their spouse is trying to find a parking space. There is a lot of “TRYING “ here. And it becomes very trying in the lodge when our volunteers have to keep repeating the same message over and over.
BE ADVISED IF THE CARD IS IN YOUR NAME, ONLY YOU CAN USE IT IN THE LODGE. NO ONE ELSE, FOR ANY REASON. THIS INCLUDES TRIPS FROM THE BEACH TO THE RESTROOMS OR GETTING THE WATER BOTTLED FILLED. THE NONMEMBER MUST BE ESCORTED INTO THE LODGE BY THE MEMBER.
Another item we would like to bring to your attention. When you are playing The Queen of Hearts game or the 50/50 and your ticket is pulled, first CONGRATULATIONS!! Second please know that we are required to gather certain information before we can give any monies to you that are $600.00 and over . This information we (for the IRS) are requiring is very simple. We will require a valid State I.D. or drivers license and filling out a W-9 form. When the pot goes to $5000.00 or greater we are required to deduct 25% and be very happy to hand your winnings over to you, the winner.
Another change is in the kitchen hours on Wednesday nights. It is impossible to be able to run the Queen, the 50/50 and call names for food orders at the same time. Especially when the food is not picked up when the name is called. I know you may not have heard your name the first time, but you have been here, and you are aware of how loud it gets in the building. On Wednesdays, from now on last call for kitchen /food orders will stop at 6PM.

Greetings members and friends. We are officially announcing the tickets for the Valentines dinner and dance are now officially for sale in the office. The tickets are on sale starting on Thursday 1-19-23 for $24.95 and includes a NY Strip steak cooked to your liking, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus . There is a limited number of tickets available so get them early. The date is February 11th. If you think you are coming in for the band only, think again.
The tickets for the Pig Roast will also be available 1-20-23. The cost for the Pig Roast is $15.95 and there will be three seatings. The event is on February 25th, 2023.
There will be two bands for the pig roast. Bring your beach chairs and blankets. There is plenty of room dancing in the sand!!

Lodge Update

Greetings Moose members and Friends.
Last year seemed like it went on forever and wasn’t going to end. We do hope all of your Holidays went well. And of course, all of your New Years’ resolutions have been made!! We wish you all the very best in the ensuing year. I would like to remind you about a few of the lodge policies that new members may not be aware of. This email will serve as a reminder of the lodge parking and guest policies and a few events we are planning.
PARKING LOT POLICIES
The Moose parking lot is for members that are utilizing the Moose Lodge.
Being a current moose member and having a sticker does not permit you to park in the lot and walk away to patronize another business. Your vehicle will be towed!
You must have a current Moose membership card to utilize the parking lot, unless you are here to renew or join the lodge.
A nonmember may not drop a member(s) off at the beach and come back and park in the moose lot.
Please make sure you have a Moose sticker on your car, it makes it easier to identify and not get towed. If you vacate the premises, take your vehicle with you or it will be towed
The lodge closes at 9PM and the lot is secured at 9:30 PM. If your vehicle is in the lot at 9:30 or later, it will be towed.
NO ALCOHOL or FOOD will be allowed to be unloaded from your vehicle at any time. Utilizing the Moose lodge includes purchasing food and alcohol from the lodge. If you have a cooler, you will be asked to reveal what is inside, if you refuse you will be asked to leave.
Please do not back into the parking lot and pull all the way up.
CURRENT GUEST POLICY
The lodge guest policy is as follows: a member may bring a guest (or a couple) with his or her active membership card. The spouse (nonmember) of a member does not count as a guest. This does not mean that a couple, (each with their own membership card) can bring in two couples (4 people). If this were permitted, the membership would be outnumbered by the guest in an excessively big hurry!
There will be times because of the very large crowds on Wednesdays (Queen Drawing) guests will not permitted in the lodge. Members with spouse or active members (with current Membership card) from other lodges are welcome.
To all Moose members, this is just a friendly reminder of our current GUEST POLICY. It was created to allow our membership to have a seat before a guest/nonmember sits.
Friday Night Prime Rib Dinner.
The Friday night Prime rib dinner is resuming stating this Friday Jan 6, 2023 at 4:30 PM.
QUEEN DRAWING
Next week, January 11, 2023 the Queen of Hearts will be stating back up. Tickets are available in the lodge for the Queen drawing along with the 50/50 raffle. The current Queen drawing is worth $26,070.00 to the winner, less taxes.
In February the lodge is going to have two special events. The first event is going to be on February 11th, a Valentines Dinner and dance. There will be three seatings for the Pig Roast, 12:00 PM., 3PM., and 5:30Pm.Tickets will be sold in the office and be made available soon. There will also be vendors for you to visit and two bands playing throughout the day.

LUCA Racing
On numerous occasions we have talked about the sponsoring of youth activities. One in particular is Luca Racing. Your moose lodge has sponsored him the last two years and I am very proud to announce that he has taken 1st place in his division. Attached please find more about Luca in the following article. Moose International Has Ross Chastain, we have a young rising star, Luca Raina!! The Moose is “worn” on his driving suit and displayed on his kart.
It is with great pleasure to announce the Orlando Cup Karting Champion of 2022 is none other than the Moose Lodge's very own sponsored driver, Luca Raina. Luca has worked tirelessly all season, and in his rookie year was able to bring the Moose Lodge Race Kart to victory lane twice as well as getting on the podium for six of eight races this year. Luca began karting in the rise of 2022 at just 13 years old. His pure passion for the sport is easily recognized. From the moment Luca wakes up till the time Luca falls asleep racing is heavily stamped on his mind.
The Mechanic
Luca is the lead mechanic. He's learned everything about his kart, from changing tires to switching engines he does it all. All around the track mechanics love teaching Luca as he's eager to learn anything applicable to his kart and his greatest passion is to work on enhancing it, unlike most racers at his age. Luca is always more than willing to lend a hand to anyone on and off the track especially when tweaking a kart, even when they are his competitors. Luca practices the finest sportsmanship as he realizes all in all karting is about the experience and enjoyment of getting on the track.
The Money
Luca has full dominance over all finances collected from his gracious sponsors. His focus is to utilize every penny wisely. Some of the fees associated with the season are as follows: car equipment, race entry fees, all necessary protective gear, and so on. It's a great deal of responsibility however he has done a phenomenal job allocating his funds well.
2023 Karting
Luca has already begun acting toward his goals for next season. He's working effortlessly to buy a new chassis as it is the foundation for his kart and will help to bring him, and his sponsors, more victories. In addition, Luca is also having his Tillotson engine rebuilt to ensure it is at peak performance. Luca has already arranged and is eager to begin a dedicated schedule of practice days in the off-season in Palmetto Florida
Beyond
Luca's prime focus is to have the significant opportunity to own, alter, and race a shifter kart in 2024. Shifter karts are rapid vehicles, thus requiring greater funds to operate them. All this hard work leads to Luca's life's goal which is to have the sponsorships, support, and knowledge to race Indy Car one day.

Queen Of Hearts Rules
These are the Queen rules adopted by the Exec Board.
You must be an active member of any Moose lodge to participate. You may be asked to provide proof of who you are, other than your moose ID. Do not use anyone else’s card. If we catch you trying to do this, you will be summoned to a Executive board disciplinary hearing. This could result in your suspension of social quarters use or loss of your moose membership!
The Executive Board, when it deems necessary, will make changes to the game for the benefit of both the lodge and membership. This includes doing a final draw down when the lodge feels it is necessary to protect both, the members, employees, volunteers, and the lodge. The membership will be notified by email, when a change is to take place. This email will be sent out a week before the change is to go into effect.
Temporary cards and paper receipts will not be accepted. Photos of your card or emails from Moose International or any moose lodge WILL NOT be accepted.
On the tickets you purchased, both Queen and 50/50. Print your name exactly the way it is on your moose membership. If you don’t, it won’t be recognized as valid. NO EXCUSES, NO EXCEPTIONS!!
You do not have to be present to win the Queen of Hearts Jack pot. You must be present to win door prizes. Any winners not present, will be contacted the same night as the drawing.
The 50/50 winners do not have to be present to win. Any winners not present, will be contacted the same night as the drawing.
You must be on the property to be eligible to collect door prizes.
If your ticket is drawn, you must present your Moose Membership card and the matching winning ticket to collect your prize.
The Queen of Hearts game is played every Wednesday evening, unless there are extenuating circumstances that prevents the game from being played. The Exec board will do it’s best to notify the membership of this as soon as it can.
The tickets are available for purchase starting on Thursday at the opening of the lodge, during regular hours. Tickets are $2.00 each or sold as strips of 5 for $10.00. On the night of the drawing QUEEN SALES WILL STOP AT 6:45 PM. No Exceptions. At the hour of 7PM the Queen ticket will be drawn, and the door prize tickets will drawn after the queen ticket.
The Queen ticket envelope will then be opened by our Police liaison Officer. 50/50 ticket sales will stop at 6:30 PM. and the drawing is at 6:45PM.
The lodge reserves the right to limit the number of members (and possibly guests) in the lodge on this night. This will also depend on our Police liaison Officer and their decision of the lodge reaching the occupancy limit.

For those of you that may not know where to find info about your lodge, the following should help. To receive emails please go to the lodge website at mooselodge2188.com. Across the top of the page, you will see a few “titles” to choose from. Please click on “Resources” and select “Email sign up” and follow the instructions.
The Anna Maria Face Book page is “Anna Maria Moose Lodge #2188”.
The WIFI password in the lodge is mooselodge2188.
We receive a lot of comments about how beautiful and friendly your lodge is, then comes the “but”. The concern is, the amount of parking. We are very aware that we have a limited amount of parking space available and it fills up very quickly. One of the best places to park is south of the lodge approximately 3 blocks. There are FREE shuttles that run up and down the island at 10 to 15 minute intervals. One of the stops is right in front of the lodge! Please keep this in mind when you are trying to find a parking spot to come and visit. Oh Yah, did I say it was free!
Parking Stickers
Thank all of you who have purchased an AMI Moose parking sticker. The $3.00 we collect for the sticker goes to support the Children in Mooseheart and Seniors in Moosehaven. Please be aware this is not a pass to park in the Moose lot and walk away from the Moose Lodge to another restaurant, bar or shop. The sticker is to identify your vehicle in our lot. If we cannot identify your vehicle and you do not respond to our attempts to find you, we will have the vehicle towed. The parking lot is for members who are utilizing the Moose Lodge. Remember other MEMBERS would like to use the lot too, so if you leave, please take your vehicle with you. This also includes parking in the lot after hours. We close at 9 PM and we ask that your vehicle is out of the parking lot be 9:30 PM. If you are not capable of driving, advise the bartenders as there is a service that will take you and your vehicle home for a minimum cost. Please follow the parking lot rules.
